Jost van Dyke is often described as quirky, offbeat and laidback. It’s usually known as the place where you come to party barefoot in the sand. While some of Jost Van Dyke’s other bays are known for their party vibe, Foxy’s Taboo at Diamond Cay has a quieter feel. It’s the kind of place that inspires exploration – either in a physical form or just in quiet contemplation.
Located at Diamond Cay on Jost Van Dyke’s Eastern shore, Foxy’s Taboo is found on a quiet, mostly undeveloped part of the island. The Caribbean Tradewinds blow in an easterly pattern, making Taboo a cool spot to explore and play. Whether you arrive by boat or bump along the road, winding your way down the hairpin turns that cut through the island’s green hills, you will become enveloped in an immersive seascape dotted with tiny cays and bays.
From Taboo, you can take a short, 20-minute hike along an old Goat trail over to Bubbly Pool, where a small chasm of the island’s rugged Northern cliffs opens into a small beach and swimming area. Here, ocean waves force themselves through the small opening, giving the foaming effect of being in a natural jacuzzi.
From Taboo’s dock, you are a 10–15-minute dinghy ride away from exploring tiny outer islands such as Little Jost Van Dyke, Sandy Cay and Sandy Spit, where you can live out your Robinson Crusoe fantasies away from crowds of people. This area is also home to some of the best snorkeling on the island. This is the place to bring your snorkel gear, kayak or paddle board. Kiteboarders and SCUBA divers also love the outer cays in this area.
Taboo’s Caribbean menu also distinguishes itself from other beach bars with its Mediterranean flair. Known for its great salads, grilled fish and meats and healthy pitas. Friendly staff and a laid-back atmosphere make this a fantastic lunch or dinner spot to explore.
