Launch in December 2019, Golden Journey focuses on the luxury market. Sailing BVI sat down with Ms Fraser to learn more about Golden Journey,  the woman behind the brand and the services being offered.

SBVI: Why concierge services?

GF: I have always been passionate about providing gold standard services to my guests/clients. Words can’t describe the warmth and satisfaction I experience when I’m given the opportunity to exceed their expectations. I felt there was a void in the Territory, as a tourist destination, where our visitors are not offered the level of exceptional service experience that would give them the ‘wow factor’. We are thrilled to be able to enhance the experience of our corporate and luxury guests (including locals), and welcoming visitors to ‘natures little secrets’ by transforming their trip into a golden journey.

SBVI: What services/products  do you offer?

GF: Golden Journey caters to clients who expect the gold standard of service delivery. It was conceived to provide unmatched concierge services, so clients feel welcomed, appreciated, and valued.  Some of the services the company offers include bookings of accommodation, land and sea excursions, transportation, and special events.

SBVI: What are advantages of having a concierge service?

GF: Activities pre-arranged.  Some other advantages include:

– A ‘personal navigator’ – someone with a wealth of knowledge of the islands to guide the clients to the best preferred locations and service providers, such as accommodations, transportation, dining, excursions, and night life.

– Clients can fully relax and enjoy hassle-free engagements (they just show up and enjoy the occasion)

SBVI: What has been the most rewarding and what has been the most challenging thing you have experience as a concierge?

GF: The most rewarding thing as a concierge is that I am able do something I love – providing clients with an exceptional level of service.  This is not a job for me, it is something inspiring and fun for me to do.

The most challenging thing as a concierge has been identifying and creating a network of reliable service providers who share a similar passion for excellence.  This is important so that the clients experience seamless and consistent service from the different service providers.

SBVI: Tell us about your journey to where you are in the industry.

GF: Shortly after beginning my journey as an entrepreneur in the tourism-related industry, the Covid-19 pandemic hit. I wondered whether this challenge would see the end of the business before it had a chance at succeeding. While the business was slow, I however, took the opportunity to pursue my Bachelor’s degree and other professional qualifications and certifications.  Looking back, I believe that this challenge resulted in positive outcomes, both personally and professionally

SBVI: What experiences (both professional and life) have prepared you for this journey?

GF: Some professional experiences that have prepared me for this journey started during my teenage years while working at a boutique and different restaurants after school, and on summer and Christmas breaks.  Over time, my appreciation for service delivery developed by opportunities to work at renowned establishments such as, Long Bay Beach Resort and Peter Island Resort & Spa. These opportunities were instrumental in my grooming as a service agent. My skills were further developed by opportunities to work as a customer service officer at two financial services institutions.

In terms of life experiences, I have been prepared for this journey by my involvement in military training. This gave me an array of skills such as leadership, discipline, time-management and organizational skills, that I have been able to use while attending to my clients’ needs.

There is no coincident that many clients contact Golden Journey to book sea charters and sailing excursions, as the BVI is known to be the sailing capital of the world.  When asked what’s next for Golden Journey, CEO Gia Fraser stated that “Golden Journey is expanding its services to include international travel arrangements to its clients. This will include flights, cruises, transportation, hotels/resorts reservations, and bundle packages. We also arrange events (theme parks, sporting, musicals, etc.) planning and ticketing, entertainment, excursions and so much more! We are extremely excited about extending our brand globally.”
